The 2025 drivers’ champion, in his interaction with GPblog and other selected media at the McLaren team base, detailed how he feels unchanged despite his title success.

“I don't feel any different coming into this season. I still feel like I just want to go out and win. I feel like there's just… my baseline feeling consistently is that, at the end of the day, I just want to go out and win,” Norris explained.

The McLaren driver further detailed that the title win doesn’t quench his thirst for more success, which he continues to pursue and would like to repeat.

“If I don't achieve something again, I always have something that I'm very proud of. I know it's a huge achievement, but it’s not, and certainly hasn’t taken away any ambition or desire to want to do it again or to come into this season and go and not care about it,” he added.

“That's certainly not how I've pictured everything and seen everything. So if anything, I enjoyed last year a lot, and of course I want to do it again,” he concluded.

The 2025 Formula 1 season culminated in Norris achieving what he describes as his lifelong ambition when he clinched the drivers’ championship ahead of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen in the final race in Abu Dhabi. The win saw him become the first McLaren driver to win the drivers’ crown since Lewis Hamilton in the 2009 campaign.

Norris eyes key learning from Verstappen

Norris acknowledged his admiration for Verstappen and admitted he wishes he could adopt some of his qualities.

The McLaren driver highlighted the mentality of the Red Bull driver among the lessons he could take from him.
