Red Bull grants 'longtime' Verstappen wish with shiny new car

Max Verstappen has expressed his approval of Red Bull’s new RB22 livery at the team’s launch in Detroit.

The four-time world champion, who unveiled the car alongside new teammate Isack Hadjar, explained that he had long hoped for this colour scheme and praised the fresh look it brings to the team.

“I think it's much better. I've been asking for this for a while, so this is great. I like the shine, I like the blue, it's my favourite colour. I like the outlines on the Red Bull logo as wellm it’s back, it’s much fresher, so I like it,” Verstappen said during the Red Bull team livery launch.

The 2026 RB22 marks a departure from Red Bull’s recent livery designs, featuring a shinier paint finish and a white background for the car’s fonts and lettering.

Red Bull Racing becomes the first team to reveal its 2026 livery, with the remaining ten teams expected to follow in the coming weeks.

Verstappen predicts bigger gap between teams after 2026 overhaul

Verstappen also predicted a wider gap between teams come the start of the new regulations. The Dutch driver, in his interaction with GPblog, highlighted how this is often a key feature of regulation changes.

Verstappen concluded by expressing hopes that teams will be able to race closer to each other early enough under the new rules.
