The summer break is in full swing, and the drivers are enjoying time with their family and friends. Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg also has a special day, as he celebrates his 38th birthday.

The Red Bull Racing team didn't forget this and wished the German a happy birthday on Instagram. In the photos posted along with the message, Max Verstappen also congratulates Hulkenberg after securing his first podium in Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix earlier this year.

Why did Hulkenberg never become Max Verstappen's teammate?

Hulkenberg achieved his first career podium at the Silverstone circuit this year. However, in 2020, Sergio Perez was announced as Alex Albon's replacement at Red Bull for the following year. Hulkenberg's name was spoken about, and Helmut Marko admitted that there had been talks with him, but the German was overlooked. This article explains why Hulkenberg's move to the team ultimately did not go through.
