After the Miami Grand Prix, Toto Wolff was a happy man. George Russell managed to achieve his fourth podium of the year, while Antonelli took pole position for the sprint. However, the team principal and CEO still pointed out some areas of concern. Difficulties in warm conditions last season
Mercedes had an inconsistent season last year. During the races in warm conditions, the Mercedes team couldn't make a significant impact, while in colder conditions, the car seemed to be competitive. This season, a large part of the problems appear to have been solved, but the team still faces difficulties.
"We were much worse in the hot races at the beginning of the year than we were last year, much better. We were really good in the icy, arctic conditions in Silverstone. We were good in Spa, we were good in Las Vegas. So you can definitely still see a similar pattern," Wolff said, referring to the colder races that were on the calendar last year.
The Mercedes team principal and CEO believes that a number of problems with the Mercedes have been resolved: 'We've solved a lot of balance issues from last year, the front and rear are in a much better spot. When it's hot and the balance is not where it needs to be ideally, it's just better."
