The international media were unanimous in their verdict: while Lando Norris achieved a great victory, Max Verstappen proved he is the best driver on the Formula 1 grid.

"He continues to prove that he is the best driver in the world. Undisputedly."

Marca - Spain

The Spanish newspaper acknowledged Norris’s strong performance, which helped him extend his lead in the drivers’ standings in Brazil, but also highlighted Verstappen’s qualities after the race.

They write: "The Briton can now deliver the final blow in the remaining races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

"But the Sao Paulo race and the new reality of the championship are defined by one key player: Verstappen's skill. He may have lost some momentum in his comeback attempt, but he continues to prove that he is the best driver in the world. Undisputedly."

La Gazzetta dello Sport - Italy

The Italian newspaper gave Verstappen an 8.5 in its ratings but pointed out that Kimi Antonelli managed to keep him behind in the final laps.

Their verdict reads: "He started from the back and rose impressively to third place despite a puncture. A monster: his usual grit, speed, and spectacular overtaking moves, but Antonelli closed the door on him."

The Italian rookie received the same rating, while Lewis Hamilton scored a five out of 10. About the seven-time world champion, they added: "Maybe it's not entirely his fault, but he messed up a bit on the weekend."

De Telegraaf - The Netherlands

The Dutch newspaper was also complimentary of Verstappen's comeback.

"Verstappen was told by his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, that he had driven like a race winner, and the winning Norris also stated that the Limburg native was likely the fastest man on the track."

Esto - Mexico

The Mexican newspaper had nothing but praise for the defending world champion, who was eliminated in Q1 on Saturday but produced a remarkable comeback on Sunday.

"After a poor qualifying session that sent him to 16th place on the starting grid and then starting in 19th place because he started the race from the pit lane after taking advantage of his position to have his car's engine adjusted, Verstappen made a comeback that only geniuses can achieve."
