Another F1 race weekend, another clean sheet for Max Verstappen, who continues to be the driver who's most at risk of a race ban due to the penalty points on his license. Verstappen's penalty points tally currently stands at 8, with 12 being the amount leading to a race ban, a fate former F1 driver couldn't escape in 2024 being forced to skip the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Verstappen's first penalty points will not expire until 30 June, 2025. At 8 he is the de facto leader in the potentially title threatening stat. Seeing as Red Bull's performance is more track dependant than ever, missing a race could have major negative implications in his aspirations to take a 5th consecutive F1 title.
Lance Stroll veered onto Charles Leclerc's incoming trajectory, thus causing a collision and
accruing a 1 place grid drop for the race as well as 1 penalty point for the clumsy manoeuvre, bringing his total to four.
George Russell and
Lewis Hamilton were also on the receiving end of hefty punishment by the Stewards, with the former being handed a drive-through penalty, and the latter a three place grid drop. Nevertheless neither of these incidents resulted in penalty points being added to their licenses.
After the Monaco Grand Prix, Verstappen still cannot afford many incidents.
