Verstappen highlights key aspect to his 2026 Formula 1 preparation

Max Verstappen highlighted the importance of resting in preparation for the new season.

After the Dutchman spent the winter break in Brazil switching off with his family. Verstappen travelled with Kelly Piquet, Penelope and Lily to the Rio de Janeiro region.

Now, all eyes are on the 2026 Formula 1 season. The first pre-season test days begin already next week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Looking ahead, Verstappen highlighted a key area of his preparation for the upcoming campaign.

Talking to GPblog, among others, at Red Bull's launch event in the United States, he said: "I mean, honestly, maybe it sounds funny, but rest.

"You do the normal training, right? But it's also very important to try and rest and sleep well.

"Maybe it sounds a bit stupid, but the older you get, that's even more and more important."

Verstappen on his Brazil trip

Verstappen's partner, Kelly Piquet, also shared images of the Red Bull Racing driver at the beach with Lily, and the Red Bull Racing driver was also spotted playing some volleyball.

The four-time F1 world champion enjoyed his time in Brazil. He said: "Besides just relaxing, yeah, just spending time with family. I mean, my family (through Kelly Piquet, ed.) is from Brazil, you try to catch up, spend some holidays together whenever you can.

"That's what we did. We tried to also explore new places. And yeah, that's going well."
