Although McLaren dominates this season, Max Verstappen is still within striking distance in the F1 World Championship of 2025. Even in Canada, despite the speed of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the Dutchman sees positive developments at Red Bull Racing.
“The car is much easier to handle than last year. The major balance issues are gone, but we still lack a lot of speed compared to McLaren. All in all, it's moving in the right direction now,” said the reigning world champion to F1.com. The Dutchman may not believe in a victory at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, but he remains combative despite the possible suspension hanging over his head.

The Canadian Grand Prix is one for Verstappen to enjoy

That Verstappen has been the undisputed master in Canada for the past few years goes without saying. For three years in a row, the Dutchman managed to win the race in Montreal. This circuit is also one he looks forward to, despite the lack of speed in 2025.
“I love the corners here, it's like a karting track. There are many fast corners and hard braking zones. I enjoy it every season,” said the four-time world champion about the track in North America.

Finally, the Red Bull driver also mentioned that a victory is not entirely ruled out. Last year, he was in third place for a long time in the race, but on a drying track he ended up emerging on top. “The weather can play an important role here. That's what makes it an exciting Grand Prix where a lot can happen,” said Verstappen.
