Verstappen visits circuit named after father-in-law ahead of Brazil GP

Max Verstappen paid a visit to the Autodromo Internacional de Nelson Piquet, a circuit named after his father-in-law, Nelson Piquet.

The Dutch driver, who is currently in Brazil ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 race in Sao Paulo, took time to see the circuit named after the three-time world champion in Brasilia.

The circuit, which closed 12 years ago, has been under BRB Management since 2022 and is set to reopen on November 30th. It is, however, expected to host stock car races.

Verstappen gives his nod to the circuit

In a video shared by Piquet Sr. on Instagram, the Red Bull Racing driver, asked by his father-in-law about his thoughts on the racetrack, stated:

“I think it is very nice. I think it’s going to be very nice when it opens, very fast layout. It’s going to be good fun for cars and bikes," he said.

The remodelled circuit will see its length increase to 5.384 km from the 5.031 km it had before closing.

Verstappen launches special helmet for Brazil GP

Earlier, Verstappen unveiled a special helmet for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The 28-year-old is set to sport a helmet that is a far departure from his usual red and blue colour scheme.

The helmet features gold and shades of yellow, serving as a tribute to the Interlagos race.

The Dutch driver boasts fond memories at the Brazilian Grand Prix, including clinching victories in three of the last five races at the circuit in Sao Paulo.
