Frederic Vasseur will stay longer with the Ferrari team, as was announced this morning. The Frenchman has signed a multi-year deal with the team from Maranello, and with this decision, it appears that the team has opted for continuity. What does Vasseur's news mean for former Red Bull team boss Christian Horner?
With Vasseur's contract extension, all rumors can be thrown in the trash. it came to a head in Canada, when Corriere dello Sport reported that Vasseur had to leave the team. Vasseur reacted hotly to the news and GPblog was able to quickly report that it was incorrect. Nonetheless, the name Horner was mentioned a lot within the team.
Since his dismissal from Red Bull Racing, there has been a lot of fuss about the future of Christian Horner. Rumors of a possible move to Ferrari have been popping up repeatedly.
Lewis Hamilton was brought in by Ferrari, led by Vasseur. However, Hamilton probably does not want to work with Horner. Whether Verstappen will ever make the switch to Ferrari remains to be seen.
However, GPblog previously reported that Horner had been looking at other teams for a long time. The Brit had shown interest in the Ferrari team in the past. GPblog reported that Horner had leaked this to Bild himself, but there were no conversations.
Horner flirted much more with Alpine and Flavio Briatore. Even though Alpine recently appointed Steve Nielsen as Managing Director, Horner could still go there as team boss.
