Martin Brundle has expressed his opinion on the current situation at Red Bull Racing. According to the Brit, Jos Verstappen has practically become the boss and the team is too focused on one driver.
Martin Brundle spoke at Sky Sports in conversation with Nico Rosberg about the current situation at Red Bull Racing.
Still, Brundle believes that Jos Verstappen had a role in the dismissal of the longest-serving team principal. "Absolutely. I think since Bahrain last year, I’ve almost considered Jos as the team principal of Red Bull."
“It’s become a one-driver team and I think that’s something they’ve got to fix as well," the former F1 driver said.
Brundle claims that Red Bull wouldn't dismiss Horner without the Verstappens being aware of it. "But there’s no way the hierarchy in Austria would have done this [sacked Horner without the Verstappen camp being aware]."
“The Verstappens would have bought into this. They wouldn’t have been blindsided."
Brundle suggests that the chance of Verstappen leaving has thus become smaller. "So there’s no way that Max will now be leaving the team because of that. They would have ensured that before they made that move with Christian," Brundle concluded.
Helmut Marko confirmed a few days ago that Verstappen will definitely drive for the Austrian team next year. GPblog has learned that Verstappen himself will only provide clarity about his future after the summer break.
