Mercedes-powered cars covered the most mileage on the opening day of Barcelona testing.
Seven teams took part in the opening day of running yesterday, with Mercedes, Red Bull, Racing Bulls, Audi, Haas, Cadillac and Alpine providing the first on-track action of the season.
Mercedes-powered cars topped the mileage charts, logging an impressive 209 laps in total. Ferrari also fared strongly through Haas and Cadillac, combining for 198 laps across the day.
It was a solid first outing as well for the Red Bull–Ford power unit, which completed 195 laps courtesy of Hadjar and Racing Bulls. Audi, by contrast, brought up the rear with just 27 laps after Gabriel Bortoleto was sidelined by a technical issue. Honda is still yet to appear on track, with Aston Martin expected to begin running later in the week.

| Power Unit | Laps Completed |
| Mercedes | 209 |
| Ferrari | 198 |
| Red Bull–Ford | 195 |
| Audi | 27 |
| Honda | 0 |
Given the magnitude of the latest regulation reset, reliability had been a major talking point heading into the test, with past experiences still fresh in the paddock.
So far, however, the new-generation 2026 cars have delivered on that front, ticking off mileage without major issues, with the spotlight now shifting towards how competitive they can become as performance is gradually unlocked.
