Max Verstappen mentioned after qualifying for the Grand Prix in Hungary that he isn't doing a 'rain dance' at all. Whether it will actually rain in Budapest remains to be seen.
Max Verstappen qualified in eighth place for the race at the Hungaroring. After qualifying, he responded, questioned by GPblog, that he does not hope for a rain race.
“With the feeling that I have right now with the car, I certainly hope that it doesn't rain”, says the Dutchman.
In Silverstone, it rained during the Grand Prix. Verstappen was then driving with a dry race set-up, that although gave him pole on Saturday, it made it a difficult race for the Dutchman come Sunday.
In Belgium, the story was just the opposite. The Red Bull was configured for the rain, but because the FIA waited a long time to start the race, the weather cleared and the race was eventually run under dry conditions.
For now, it doesn't seem like it's going to rain during the Grand Prix of Hungary. The chance of rain is 40%, but most of the showers have already fallen overnight and in the morning.
However, the weather in Budapest is unpredictable and can suddenly change. The qualifyingon Saturday was a good example of this.
During the session, conditions changed quite a bit, which eventually saw Charles Leclerc to unexpectedly rise to the top, taking pole position.
Will Verstappen take risks from P8? “No, that makes no sense if you start eighth. It won't bring much. Just do my best”, the Red Bull Racing driver concluded.
