Peter Windsor enjoyed Max Verstappen's outing during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The Red Bull driver immediately passed Lando Norris from McLaren at the start of the race. He seemed to lose control for a moment, but quickly corrected himself. This is what Windsor liked so much about Verstappen's action.
"Although Max had made a very good start on his soft tyres without additional grip, he now had to fight Lando Norris going through Turn 2 and down into the plunge towards Hunserug 0:09 Something that Max shouldn't really have had to have done based on how well he'd got away from the line," Windsor began his analysis after the Dutch Grand Prix on his YouTube channel.
Windsor, who was impressed by Max Verstappen, continued: "Unbelievable car control on tyres that were not even the soft tyre, not fully up to temperature, on a full load of fuel. Incredible car control by Max. First of all, to catch it and then not to over-catch it, not to over-correct in any way, just to keep the car going. Got it stopped in a straight line and still managed to come out in P2 ahead of Lando Norris."
The Dutchman's control of the car also reminded him of the safety restart of the Spanish Grand Prix. On that occasion, Verstappen almost went off the track, and he had to surrender his third place to Scuderia Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Ultimately, he finished tenth on the circuit in Barcelona. Windsor enjoyed Verstappen's action in Zandvoort. "For me, that's what that's the hallmark I think, of just sheer class, incredible bit of driving by Max there."
