Lando Norris has topped the final free practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc finished in second place, while George Russell rounded off the Top 3.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen finished in P4 and P5 respectively during FP3 in Montreal. The two champions finished two and a half seconds behind Norris.
After his crash 20 minutes into the session, Oscar Piastri could return to the track to complete laps on the soft tyres, and finished in P8, behind Fernando Alonso and Kimi Antonelli.
Even as he had the same car as his Dutch teammate, Yuki Tsunoda finished in P20, and is also investigated by the stewards for a red flag infringement, together with Gabriel Bortoleto.

As it happened

There was no rush to get out on the track immediately once the green flag was waved in FP3. After his crash yesterday, Lance Stroll was one of the first drivers to leave his garage.
After hitting the barrier in Turn 3 in FP1 and having to skip FP2 on Friday, Charles Leclerc's Ferrari was also ready for these 60 minutes.
Franco Colapinto was the first driver who came close to having an incident on the narrow Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, but the young Argentinian managed to just avoid the Wall of Champions.
After the first 20 minutes, Leclerc led the session with a lap time on the mediums.
Seconds later, as Piastri was completing a flying lap, he did hit the Wall of Champions. Because of the debris on track, the red flag was waved. However, after he was able to bring back his car to the pit lane, and could continue to set lap times afterwards.
Not only the Australian had an incident there, but Nico Hulkenberg also spun in the final chicane moments later. The German barely caught the 'Wall of Champions' himself, and reported a bit of rear wing end plate damage over the team radio.
After the red flag, the drivers continued to improve, and with 20 minutes to go, it was Russell who took the lead on the soft tyres with a 1:11.950.
During the final part, Oliver Bearman also hit the 'Wall of Champions', but the Haas driver could also continue.
Entering the final 10 minutes, the drivers were completing their final flying laps on the soft tyres, but no one could outperform Norris' 1:11.799, as the Briton topped the final free practice session.
