Radar confirms fresh weather update for Brazil GP Sprint race
The sprint race and qualifying are expected to start as scheduled, as the feared storm seems to be bypassing the Interlagos circuit. GPblog understands that the sprint race will likely be held under mostly dry conditions.
Earlier, Brazil experienced strong storms overnight and into the early morning. The FIA and Formula 1 had long anticipated severe weather during the morning, precisely when the sprint race was originally scheduled to take place.
Dry day in Brazil
Those concerns now appear unfounded, as conditions in Sao Paulo are clearly improving. The storm seems to have passed, and all indications suggest the sprint race will go ahead without issues on a dry track.
According to the FIA’s weather radar, which GPblog has access to, no rain is currently in sight.
This update comes as a setback for several drivers and key personalities, including Red Bull Racing's Helmut Marko, who had hoped that a weather-affected race might help offset the deficiencies they experienced during the Sprint qualifying.
