Multiple last-minute changes to start grid for Brazil sprint race
The FIA has announced the final starting grid for the Brazil Grand Prix Sprint, and it is set to feature several changes, with a few drivers starting from the pit lane.
Lando Norris will lead the pack for the Sprint after storming to pole position during Friday’s qualifying. The McLaren driver locks out the front row alongside rookie Kimi Antonelli, who clocked the second-fastest time of the qualifying session.
The second row features the respective teammates of both drivers, Oscar Piastri and George Russell, starting in third and fourth place. The duo are followed by Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen, who described his outing as ‘quite poor.’
Lance Stroll, Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, rookie Isack Hadjar, and Nico Hulkenberg complete the top 10 starting positions.
Sainz, Tsunoda set for pit lane start
Carlos Sainz is set to start the Sprint at Interlagos from the pit lane. GPblog understands that the decision will allow the Williams Racing team to assess alternative setup options ahead of qualifying later in the day.
The four-time race winner had originally qualified 20th for the race.
Yuki Tsunoda will also start from the pit lane after the Red Bull team made changes to his rear wing and suspension setup under parc ferme conditions. The Japanese driver, who suffered a crash during the first session of Friday’s running, had qualified 18th for the race.
