With both Friday sessions in the rearview mirror, Formula 1 looks ahead to the final practice session and the first of the two relevant sessions of the weekend. What will FP3 show?
On Friday, the current dominant force of the championship, McLaren, struggled with the balance of their MCL39.
Lando Norris failed to make it past P6 in FP1, but was able to pip his rivals and take P1 during the afternoon session, albeit not by much. Charles Leclerc kept the Brit honest trailing him in the SF-25 by 0.083s, with Carlos Sainz and his speedy FW47 awfully close at 0.096s off the lead.
For Max Verstappen it turned out ot be quite a positive session as in his own words, he was 'happy with the car', aroung the Temple of Speed. Further analysis of his race pace simulations bring the Dutchman forth as a contender for the win, provided the status quo doesn't change, of course.
Lewis Hamilton led the first practice session, though, for the afternoon session, the Brit's run was hindered by a setup direction misstep, according to his Friday performance assessment.
Mercedes seem to be out of the fray at the moment, but should they be able to turn their weekend around, they may yet be in contention for a good haul of points.
It's time for FP3 for the Italian Grand Prix at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the Temple of Speed!
