The FIA has wrapped up its review of the 2024 Formula 1 budget cap, confirming that nine teams met the $140.4 million spending limit without issue.
Only Aston Martin registered a procedural breach, one the governing body described as “of a very minor nature, originating from unpredictable circumstances outside the team’s control.”
According to the FIA, “AMR GP Ltd has not exceeded the Cost Cap level,” and the matter was formally resolved through an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) signed on September 29.

The organization praised the team’s conduct, noting that Aston Martin “acted cooperatively and in good faith throughout the review process.”
Given the context, “no financial penalties were imposed on AMR,” with the FIA stressing “there is no accusation or evidence that AMR sought or gained any undue advantage as a result of the breach.” All five power unit manufacturers were also confirmed as compliant.
Lewis Hamilton’s Mexico City Grand Prix quickly spiraled into fury as the Brit demanded Ferrari “push the stewards to act” against drivers he believed had “cheated” through Turn 1.
“Max took a shortcut. Loads of people gained advantage," he snapped over team radio, stressing that both Verstappen and Leclerc escaped sanction after cutting the corner.

His frustration deepened after a fierce battle with Verstappen moments later. “I got hit at Turn 1, pushed wide,” he protested. “What are they doing about people who took advantage?”
But the irony of the situation hit hard when Hamilton himself was penalised, receiving a 10-second time penalty for rejoining ahead of Verstappen.
“That’s such ****, man,” he vented. “These guys are unbelievable, mate.” Convinced the FIA had punished the wrong driver, Hamilton’s quest for fairness ended in raw, unfiltered disbelief.
