This year, Adrian Newey could begin working for Aston Martin, after it was announced a year ago that he would leave Red Bull Racing. Fernando Alonso talked about his experience with the master designer so far.

Beforehand in the season, the two-time world champion talked about meeting the Briton in lunchtime. Those are still taking place, Alonso has explained.

"Yes, when I get the chance. But I saw him at a concert. He's not available now," he joked in Hungary to GPblog among others.

Alonso finds Newey's thinking ahead 'incredible'

The master designer is not at all concerned with the 2025 car. "[He has] zero [effect on this year's car]. Yes, it was never his priority, day one, even if we probably all insist a little bit to have a look at it," the Spaniard said.

"He is very focused on next year, and he has his own way and it's great to see him working and thinking in things or problems that we may face, even by race seven, after some of the first upgrades and things like that. It is incredible," he talked about what he finds impressive about the Briton.

What can the team take away from this year that can help the Silverstone-based said in 2026 as well? "Pit stops. Nothing more," Alonso laughed.

As a result, Aston Martin can only wait for the upcoming season, when the regulation change comes into play in Formula 1.

"The cars are so different, difficult to really learn anything on this year that it will be applicable next year. All the things that we wanted to learn from this year's car upgrades, wind tunnel information, things like that is already okay and checked. Now it's just waiting for January and see how fast we can be," the two-time world champion concluded.
