All 20 drivers took to the track on Sunday afternoon, although half of them weren't on driving duties, and it made for some wild moments.

Ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, drivers took 'kit' cars and raced the machines around Interlagos, in substitution of the more traditional drivers' parade where lorries drive all 20 races around the circuit for the fans' enjoyment.

However, for home hero Gabriel Bortoleto, this outing, as well as several of his sessions in Interlagos, did not go according to plan, with the Brazilian talent's car breaking down as he came along the long straight before Turn 4.

A similar destiny befell George Russell and teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who had to abandon their kit car. Luckily for them, they each were able to secure passage back to the grid, with Russell getting a lift aboard the Red Bull drivers' car, with Max Verstappen to one side and Yuki Tsunoda on driving duties.

Speaking after they had completed to fun-looking lap, Russell said: "Oh that was an unpleasant experience. [The] car broke down you gave us a lift but we were holding on for dear life."

Regarding the race, Russell said: "Yeah looking forward to it. I think it's going to be an interesting race. Obviously we need to wait and see with the weather as well."

Verstappen boldly defies the odds

With the Brazilian Grand Prix potentially being a springboard or a hammer to Verstappen's title aspirations - it is certainly looking like it will be the latter - the Dutch driver still shows grit and will to come away with the best potential result from the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
