Russell receives warning for infringement

Just after he topped the second practice session, Russell was required to meet with the stewards. He was summoned over an 'alleged failure to follow Race Director's instructions (Escape Road)'.
The stewards ultimately decided to let Russell off with a warning. Part of the reasoning as to why reads, "The driver of Car 63 explained that he had just pitted for new tyres and at turn 13, he lost the rear of the car and had no alternative but to leave the track to the left of the orange kerb on the inside of turn 14. He said that he was focused on keeping the car off the wall and cut the orange line on the exit of turn 14. He said that he immediately realised that in so doing he had not complied with the instruction and apologised."

Leclerc crashes out in FP1

During the first 10 minutes of the first free practice session, Charles Leclerc crashed into the barrier. While he could have taken the escape road, he said he thought he could make the turn. His wheels seemingly locked up behind him, causing issues which lead to him hitting the wall.
The damage was severe enough to keep Leclerc out of the rest of the practice session and the entire second practice session.

Steward suspended ahead of Canadian GP

After several comments were made to a betting site after the Spanish Grand Prix, the FIA has decided to suspend Derek Warwick from being a steward at the Canadian Grand Prix. While he will be back for the Austrian GP, he will have to sit this one out.
The statement said: "Following recent unauthorised media comments, the FIA has taken the decision to suspend Derek Warwick from his duties as driver steward for this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. He will be replaced by Enrique Bernoldi who will be officiating from the Remote Operations Centre in Geneva for the remainder of the event."
"After discussion, Derek acknowledges that his comments were ill-advised in his role as an FIA steward and has apologised. Derek will resume his duties as a steward in the forthcoming Austrian Grand Prix."
