Jos and Max Verstappen took part in a unique interview for Viaplay, with a short clip shared on the Swedish streaming service’s Instagram account. One thing quickly became clear: the saying “like father, like son” doesn’t entirely apply to the Verstappens!
During the interview, Max and Jos tackled a series of fun dilemmas. Among other scenarios, they had to choose between competing in the Dakar Rally or spending two weeks on a deserted island.
For context, the Dakar Rally is a grueling two-week desert race that has been held in Saudi Arabia since 2020.
Although both options inherently involve sun, sea, and sand, the two drivers disagreed with each other: "Deserted island," Max said decisively.
He then gave a clear explanation: "I don't feel like digging the car out of the sand. I don't really need that. I hate sand!”
Jos is still active as a rally driver himself, so his choice was to take part in the race in the desert. "I think I'll go for the Dakar Rally," the 53-year-old said.
''My father can't sit still. He's always busy with something''- Max Verstappen
Max had to laugh a little because he thinks this suits his father. He said about this: "My father can't sit still. He's always busy with something. I sometimes enjoy just doing nothing."
Opinions also differed on other dilemmas. For example, Max chose the music of his friend Martin Garrix, while Jos said he preferred listening to Helene Fischer. This is despite Jos also having a personal connection with the Dutch DJ.
The topic also turned to hobbies. The Verstappens had to choose between a boat or a simulator. Again, opinions were divided. "Simulator on the boat," Max cried out enthusiastically. His father, however, said the following: "No simulator for me."
Did Jos and Max agree on anything? Yes indeed. Only when choosing between red and blue did both men agree. "Blue," they both said resolutely.
