Max Verstappen is typically unbothered by statistics and it appears he is similarly uninterested in debating what his greatest ever race might be.
“At the end of the day I'm here just to try and score the most available points every single weekend.”- Max Verstappen
Many experts and fans alike would suggest that his stunning victory at last year’s Brazil GP was his greatest ever race, appearing to drive from P17 to P1 with ease in treacherously wet conditions. Others would still suggest his wet weather drive at Interlagos in 2016 was his greatest performance.
As a cyclone looms over the Sao Paulo region on Saturday, Verstappen may get the chance to emulate his Autódromo José Carlos Pace heroics despite being unphased by discussions over his greatest ever drive.
Speaking on Thursday ahead of the Brazil GP weekend Verstappen said “I mean a wet race I think is always quite challenging and then around here it's always quite tough.
“For sure it [Brazil 2024] was one of my best races because it was under a lot of pressure having to perform basically, so yeah, I rate it as a really good race and one of my best races.
“It is always impossible to say which one is the best because it depends on a lot of factors and honestly it's not about how can I do better than that because at the end of the day as long you win that's the most important.
“It doesn't matter if you come from the back or from the front or it's a boring race. At the end of the day I'm here just to try and score the most available points every single weekend.”

With six podiums in the last six races, Verstappen has closed the gap to the championship leader down to just 36 points.
So far this weekend Verstappen and Red Bull have been off the pace in Brazil.
The Dutchman lines up only P6 for the sprint race as championship leader Lando Norris kept up his strong run of form to start on pole.
