The Mercedes team has given fans an early taste of its 2026 season with a teaser of the sound of its power unit.

The German outfit, which dominated the start of the hybrid era in 2014, shared on its social media the previews of the 2026 engine.

The post by the Mercedes team follows that of Honda, which also shared a teaser of its 2026 engine sound designed by its powertrain unit.

The upcoming Formula 1 season will feature a massive overhaul, even to the power generation mode within the engine. Engines will now feature an equal split between electric and the internal combustion engine.

The Brackley-based outfit remains the largest engine supplier on the current F1 grid, and the upcoming campaign will see them supply four of the 11 teams – including McLaren, Williams, and the new addition of the Alpine outfit.

The 2026 campaign will kick off with a closed-door test in Barcelona between January 26 and 30, before two subsequent open testing sessions at the Bahrain International Circuit from February 11–13 and again from February 18–20.

Mercedes also remains among the three teams yet to announce the launch date for its 2026 car, with Williams and McLaren the other two.

The 19-year-old highlighted how he has witnessed the car’s transition in the wind tunnel, before detailing his hopes of being able to fight for race wins and a possible Drivers’ Championship with the Mercedes car.
