Juan Pablo Montoya has claimed McLaren driver Oscar Piastri is already in talks with other Formula 1 teams following the 2025 season.

“Piastri and Mark Webber are already talking to another F1 team.”

The 50-year-old, who offered his assessment of Piastri’s campaign, stated he is certain the Australian is in conversation with other teams, stressing how both Piastri and his manager were dissatisfied with how the 2025 season unfolded.

“I guarantee you that Oscar Piastri and Mark Webber are already talking to another F1 team,” Montoya said to a gambling platform.

“I don’t think Mark Webber was satisfied with Oscar’s development at McLaren. Mark isn’t very happy with McLaren. But the question is whether Oscar is very unhappy with McLaren,” the Colombian added.

Montoya also cautioned that Piastri should avoid letting Webber’s past F1 frustrations influence his own career.

“I think they need to be careful and make sure that Webber’s scars from his time as a race car driver have nothing to do with Oscar’s career,” he concluded.

Piastri’s 2025 season unfolded in what can be perfectly summed up as a tale of two halves.

While the 24-year-old was dominant through the first part of the campaign, winning seven races, the McLaren driver failed to secure a victory in the final nine races of the season, which subsequently saw him lose out on the drivers’ championship to teammate Lando Norris.

Herbert sees a scenario where Piastri exits McLaren

Former F1 driver and race steward Johnny Herbert admitted he sees a possible scenario where Piastri leaves the McLaren outfit.

The three-time Grand Prix winner hinted at a move to several front-running teams, including the possibility of the Australian teaming up with Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing.
