Red Bull driver summoned to stewards after Mexico FP1

Arvid Lindblad will take a trip to the stewards after his debut session at the Mexican Grand Prix FP1.

The young British driver, who took to the cockpit of the Red Bull Racing RB21 in place of Max Verstappen, was summoned by the stewards for an impeding incident.

The 18-year-old impeded Pato O’Ward in Turn 11 during his run. Lindblad, however, is expected to be handed a reprimand instead of the €50,000 fine that the Red Bull Racing team received at the end of the United States Grand Prix.

Lindblad impresses in Mexico FP1 session

Aside from his incident with O’Ward, Lindblad had an impressive debut outing at the Mexico Grand Prix FP1 session. The youngster clocked the sixth-fastest time, behind session leader Charles Leclerc. Lindblad also finished about a tenth ahead of teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

Helmut Marko speaks on Lindblad’s outing

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko weighed in on Lindblad’s performance following his FP1 session. The 82-year-old speaking to Sky Sports F1, stated that the session proved a little challenging for the young Brit but stressed that he was overall impressed with his outing, particularly given that he was the fastest rookie in the session.

"For Arvid, it was a very difficult situation. He was told, ‘Don't do anything wrong, don't crash the car.' But he still delivered and was the fastest rookie, and I have to say his technical feedback was also impressive, so we are very happy with him."

Update: Decision made

A decision by the stewards in Mexico City has already been made regarding the impeading incident.

After finishing P6 in a promising session, the Brit received what was expected: just a warning.

As a result, no fine, grid penalty or penalty point has been handed to Lindblad or Red Bull.
