Daniel Ricciardo's smile still hasn't disappeared after his victory in Monza. The Australian is still enjoying the weekend in Italy two weeks later.
"It was a stressful week after Monza. I needed a few days rest at the end, but that was a nice problem to have," the McLaren driver told Speedweek.com. "I've been doing this for a few years now, but still I always have to pinch myself because it's a bit crazy."
"It makes me happy that my win has such a positive impact, it's really a bonus. There was a video from my hometown of Perth, everyone there went crazy when I crossed the finish line. To know that I've made someone's day with my triumph is cool. We've been through eighteen long months now with this Covid-19 disease, so it's nice to be able to bring people joy with my success", the Australian continued.
There was one person in particular who was very happy about Ricciardo's victory. "It was around 1:30 in the morning when I arrived at my mum and dad's house. My dad was acting like a kid, he'd definitely had a few drinks. And if he was already behaving like that, I can hardly imagine how my friends were behaving", Ricciardo revealed with a laugh. Hopefully, the driver can maintain this form. McLaren is fighting with Ferrari for the third spot in the constructors' championship.
