In 2026, Spain is getting a new Formula 1 circuit. While the Madrid street circuit is still under construction, Carlos Sainz details the Madrid street circuit layout and what it could offer.
The current Spanish Grand Prix is held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. However, it only has a contract until 2026. In 2026, the Madrid-based circuit is supposed to be completed and ready for racing. While it is not yet known what could happen to Barcelona, Sainz has become an ambassador for the Madring.
Ahead of the Madring Demo taking place on 7th June, 2025. He answered a few questions on what the circuit could offer.

Sainz on the future of Madring

"It's going to be a circuit with long straights, but also the urban area, the Valdebebas area, which we have a field to show different curves, like the Monumental," he told GPblog among others.
As it stands, the construction has just started for the circuit and is not far along.
Sainz notes that with caution. "I don't know why there are so many questions like this, but the circuit is not even built yet."
Before he gives his final verdict on whether or not the circuit will provide exciting race moments, he says, "We'll wait a little longer to see what they offer us."
