Lance Stroll has shed light on exactly how designer Adrian Newey is pushing Aston Martin to the next level ahead of the regulations overhaul in 2026.
"I think it's just extracting and getting more out of everyone."- Lance Stroll
Aston Martin has been unable to consistently challenge for podiums over the past couple of years since a flurry of trips to the rostrum for Fernando Alonso in 2023.
The British team are taking on Honda engines next year, and they will compete with a Newey-designed car for the first time. These factors may help Aston Martin improve.
Stroll told GPblog at the United States Grand Prix that Newey is vital in pushing everyone within Aston Martin to their potential.
He said: "I think [he's] just changing the thought process about how the car is built and what needs to go into the car and how he can just be more aggressive in all areas to level up in terms of performance.
"So I think it's just extracting and getting more out of everyone, out of the thousand people that we have now."
Stroll hasn't scored a point in the last four years, but Newey designing next year's Aston Martin may push the team to a higher level.
The Canadian explained it is very encouraging to see how Newey works and galvanises the team surrounding him.
He added: "I think he goes into his trance and he's envisioning the air going over the car right now and how it's all going to work.
"It's very impressive to see not just how he goes about designing a car, but how he impacts the whole culture in the team and tries to just get more out of everyone who puts time and energy into building the car. So it's exciting times."
Aston Martin are locked in battle with Racing Bulls as the pair duel for sixth place in the Constructor's Championship.
Racing Bulls hold a slim three-point lead over Aston Martin, who closed the gap by one point due to Alonso finishing 10th at the United States Grand Prix.
The battle for sixth could go down to the final round in Abu Dhabi, as there is very little separating the two teams with five rounds to go.
