Red Bull Racing driver Yuki Tsunoda admitted that he has little confidence in his setup decision-making surrounding the RB21, saying that teammate Max Verstappen "already has good confidence" in making those changes.
The Japanese driver had to race from behind once again in Zandvoort, but he feels he's getting closer to Verstappen's performance, and managed to move from twelfth to ninth place in the Dutch Grand Prix.
Although Tsunoda finished in the points for Red Bull, it was only his third points-paid finish for the Austrian team, meaning he sits in P19 with just 12 points.
"I think, as a team, we're working really, really good. In FP2, we were quite close, and in qualifying, we made a different approach in terms of setup," Tsunoda tells, among others, GPblog in Zandvoort.
However, those changes did not come to fruition, as it was another Q2 exit for the 25-year-old, while teammate Verstappen pushed his RB21 all the way to P3.
"[Verstappen] made it work. But also, they already have good confidence to change something between FP3 and qualifying. I decided to be consistent. So, maybe Max's approach didn't work? My setup, maybe worked, I don't know.
"But that's what Max is good at, adapting very quickly. But at the same time, as a team, we learn a lot of things this weekend," concluded Tsunoda.
