Max Verstappen has addressed his podium drought, which extended at the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. The 27-year-old is now on a four-race barren run without a top-three finish.

The Red Bull Racing driver, who had himself largely a weekend to forget around the Budapest circuit during his interaction with the media, detailed how he feels less surprised by the recent run without a podium. Speaking to the media, including GPblog, Verstappen also cited the ongoing issues within the team as a contributing factor.

Of course, the struggles are ready for one and a half years or maybe a few more."

"It's not a surprise, of course, if you look at the problems that we are having."

"I think at the end of the day for like four years, I've had really a lot of good results, right? So, it comes and goes, success.”

The Red Bull Racing driver is currently enduring his longest streak without a top-three finish in over six years.

Verstappen looks ahead to summer break

Max Verstappen also weighed in on the summer break of the 2025 Formula 1 season. The four-time champion hinted at what he would do during his time away from the track. When quizzed about it by the media, he stated:

“No, no, just spending time with family and friends.”

With the 2025 Formula 1 season now with only 10 races left, Verstappen and the Red Bull team will have their focus on maximising results ahead of the sweeping changes set to herald the sport in 2026.
