The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort is scheduled for the upcoming weekend. For Max Verstappen, this may be one of the last chances for a good result in the coming weeks. That's at least how Jolyon Palmer sees it.
Red Bull Racing and Verstappen are not exactly having a dream season in 2025. Although the Dutchman manages to get the maximum out of his materials week after week, he is currently 88 points behind the McLaren drivers in the championship. This makes a fifth world title seem impossible after fourteen races.
In addition, there are also a few issues within the Austrian team. For example, Yuki Tsunoda is underperforming thus far. Laurent Mekies is the designated man to get things back on track.
It became clear before the summer break that the Red Bull car is not consistently performing as it did in previous years. In Hungary, Verstappen finished ninth without being involved in an incident. The speed simply wasn't there. Lando Norris won the race and finished more than 72 seconds ahead of the reigning world champion.
According to Palmer, there are more of such 'fearmongers' coming for the Austrian racing stable. Thus, Zandvoort may indeed be the last chance in the coming weeks to achieve a top result.
"I'm seeing a lot of sort of bogey tracks for them coming up with Monza, with Singapore, and Baku, which sort of played out last year as well. The low speed performance isn't great on that car. They love the fast stuff," said the F1 analyst in the F1 Nation Podcast.
