Zak Brown jokingly commented on news that Oscar Piastri will have his own grandstand in Melbourne next year, similar to Norris’s “Landostand” at Silverstone.
“I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix,” the McLaren driver commented yesterday, adding that “It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen,” referring to the fact that he, too, will have a dedicated stand for his home Grand Prix in Melbourne next year.
The news further cements the status of an already undeniably talented driver, who this year has raised the bar even higher, remaining the championship leader after 14 races, despite an intensely close title fight with his teammate.
With 10 race weekends still to go, the Australian currently tops the drivers’ standings with 285 points, nine ahead of the Englishman, who has, however, claimed three wins in the last four races, significantly closing the gap.
Piastri shared the big news yesterday in a short video on social media, which McLaren CEO Zak Brown also commented on.
Reposting the video on his X account, the American wrote: “It’s given me a thought about a USA race…..” followed by a smiling emoji.
This year, Melbourne returned as the season-opening race of the Formula 1 World Championship, after several years of the honor going to Bahrain.
Next year, when the new technical regulations set to shake up the grid are introduced, the Albert Park circuit will once again host the first Grand Prix of the season, taking place over the weekend of March 6–8.
