F1 Today: Alpine hits track, Netflix makes big 'Drive to Survive' announcement

From the Alpine F1 completing its first laps in 2026 at Silverstone to streaming giant Netflix providing an update on the series Drive to Survive, we take a look at the biggest happenings across Formula 1 today.

Alpine hits track with new challenger

The Alpine team offered a glimpse of its 2026 machinery when it hit the track at the Silverstone Circuit. The French constructor, which enters this new regulation as a customer outfit of the Mercedes team, took to the British circuit with Pierre Gasly behind the wheel.

This on-track action comes days prior to the unveiling of its 2026 car, which is scheduled for Friday, January 23, alongside that of the Scuderia Ferrari outfit.

Alpine also becomes the fourth team, after Audi, Cadillac, and Red Bull Racing, to take its car to the track.

Netflix provides update on Drive to Survive series

American subscription video-on-demand streaming service Netflix has announced the release date for season eight of the Drive to Survive series.

The series, which has over the years become a staple across Formula 1, is set to air its eighth season on 27 February.

This year’s edition could feature several storylines ranging from Lando Norris’ title triumph to Max Verstappen’s comeback attempt. Several defining moments from the previous campaign, including Christian Horner’s dismissal from the Red Bull Racing outfit, are also predicted to feature in the series.
