Lewis Hamilton has had issues in the past regarding the FIA’s rulings or comments made by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. On Thursday, he commented on the recent revision of the International Sporting Code. Recently, the FIA
changed the highly controversial Appendix B of the International Sporting Code. The introduction to the original Appendix B was met with outrage and disbelief. However, after reaccessing the ISC, the FIA released the newest version.
Hamilton on FIA changes
Hamilton said, "I hadn't seen [the changes]. I don't know where it's stemming from. It’s ridiculous”.
On Wednesday, the FIA announced several changes to Appendix B. One of the more noteworthy rule changes was reducing the monetary fines. Another was giving the stewards the power to veto a penalty for certain infringements.
He continued, “Nothing I say is going to make a difference.”
In the past, Hamilton has stood against the FIA/Ben Sulayem. One time was when they were trying to enforce new rules surrounding jewellery. Hamilton protested the rules by showing up with multiple necklaces, watches and rings on.
About how Hamilton currently feels about the FIA, he said, “It seems a bit of a mess there at the moment."
