Norris's dad stings Verstappen: 'You only remember the winner'

Adam Norris, Lando’s father, commented on his son’s world championship win last weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking to F1 after the race, Norris’s father emphasized that only the winner truly matters, and that everything the others do rarely sticks in the collective memory.

“Very big (difference) in a way, being between first and second or third or fifth. And no one remembers... I was trying to think, I don't remember who came second. Well, maybe they did. And maybe in the past 10 championships, people have been ill or DNF'd or pensioned, but you don't really remember it. You only remember the winner. So it's a big day.”

It’s hard to imagine Max Verstappen’s outstanding season, especially from the summer break onwards, fading into obscurity, with the four-time world champion coming incredibly close to achieving a historic feat in F1.

Stella on what Norris learned from 2024 title fight to become champion

Last year, despite a car advantage in the second half of the season, Norris couldn’t fully capitalize on his potential, losing decisively in his first showdown with Verstappen, who went on to secure his fourth world championship well in advance.

This year, however, things were different. Despite a strong comeback from the Dutchman, Norris managed to keep his composure until the checkered flag, ultimately clinching the title.

Speaking to GPblog after the race, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella revealed what the Brit learned from last year’s title fight that proved useful this season.
