Oscar Piastri has revealed that his relationship with Lando Norris is “probably better than ever” despite their ongoing battle for the 2025 drivers’ championship.
“It’s exactly the same, or honestly, probably better than it has been.”- Oscar Piastri
Speaking via the Beyond the Grid podcast, the Australian dismissed talks of a strained relationship with his McLaren teammate, despite the ongoing 2025 title fight.
He said: “It’s exactly the same, or honestly, probably better than it has been. It’s better because we just know each other more now. We’ve been together for our third year as teammates, and we slowly get to know each other more and more.”
Piastri further explained how both drivers maintain an approach that keeps on-track incidents on the track, which has further strengthened their relationship.
“It’s probably in a better place than it ever has been, and we’re both the kind of people who believe that what happens on track stays on track. Maybe there are short-lived emotions off the track, but we’re both quite good at letting things die down and, again, leaving things on the track.”

Concluding on how their drivers’ title fight impacts their teamwork and approach, he stated:
“From that side of things, it’s really not changed. The way we’re still trying to get the most out of the team is exactly the same.”
Piastri and Norris have been in contention for the 2025 drivers’ title all season long. However, it is Norris who currently leads the standings. He recently extended his lead in the drivers’ championship to 24 points following his dominant outing at the Brazil Grand Prix.
Giancarlo Minardi has labelled Piastri’s outing in Sao Paulo as below par in his recent assessment of the Australian’s race weekend.
The former F1 driver highlighted how the McLaren driver appeared off the pace compared to teammate Lando Norris, before praising rookie Kimi Antonelli for his composure throughout the weekend.
At the Brazilian GP, Piastri suffered a crash during the Sprint race and could only manage a fifth-place finish in the Sunday race.
