Racing Bulls have confirmed Ayumu Iwasa will drive in FP1 in Mexico.
Racing Bulls have announced that the junior driver now competing in the Japanese Super Formula, F2 race winner Ayumu Iwasa will be taking over the driving duties at Liam Lawason's Racing Bulls' car during FP1 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Iwasa has three other FP1 outings under his belt, two of them for Racing Bulls. One came in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and the second one at this year's Japanese Grand Prix. His third also came this year, but this time at the wheel of Verstappen's Red Bull car.
Iwasa's announcement comes days after Red Bull Racing confirmed Arvid Lindblad will replace Max Verstappen for the FP1 session at the weekend in Mexico.
Earlier reports of Lindlad securing a seat at Red Bull Racing for the 2026 campaign had surfaced. However, GPblog understands that is not the case, with Max Verstappen currently the only confirmed driver for the team in 2026.
Neither Yuki Tsunoda, Isack Hadjar, nor Liam Lawson have been confirmed to race for Red Bull Racing during the 2026 season.
GPblog also understands that Formula 2 driver Alex Dunne will not be joining the Red Bull Racing driver programme following his exit from the McLaren Driver Academy. The F2 driver had previously been linked with a move to Red Bull, but the Irishman will not be joining the Austrian outfit.
