Max Verstappen has had his first interview as a father ahead of FP1 of the Miami Grand Prix. Talking to ESPN, the Dutchman responded to questions about his last few days. "Luckily I got to spend a few days with them, when she was born. It's been great. You never really, I guess, know what to expect. But it's been very enjoyable and it's for sure very special," the Dutchman began.
His daughter together with Kelly Piquet, Lily, was born on May 1, 2025.
The couple posted images of their baby a day later.
Verstappen becomes a father
For Verstappen it is not a new experience to have a kid around the house. "The thing is that I'm kind of like a bonus dad already, of course, with my girlfriend already having one daughter (Penelope, with Daniil Kvyat). So I saw her grow up since she was one year old. And for sure that helps a lot already, you know, to prepare for your own child."
Verstappen often streams with Team Redline. Will the Dutchman be able to continue sim racing at home? "I think that will work out. Who knows maybe in the future, you can do it together, but it's honestly like everyone does it in their own way, and for some people there have other hobbies or passions and stuff like that, but it will work out," the defending world champion concluded.
