Lewis Hamilton is hoping to finish on the podium at the Canadian GP today. At one his favourite tracks, the seven-time world champion will start from P5 on the grid. Previously, he won in Montreal on seven occasions, and here is where he won his first even F1 Grands Prix as well.
In order to achieve his goal,
Hamilton hopes he can take advantage of the tyre selection available to him.
"I think today is going be massively challenging, but we're not in a bad position, we have slightly fresher tyres than the cars that are ahead. So fingers crossed maybe we can utilise that and at least stay with them," he said at the Drivers' Parade.
The Briton first won at the
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2007. Looking back at that event, he said:
"It's one of my favourite tracks, so it's one of the most special places for me because I won my first Grand Prix here. And that was a real great showing of ultimately what I could do when I was young.""I've had the privilege of racing here for so many years and seeing the sport grow here as well, so we get even bigger crowds each time we come. I would love to get my first podium with the team here."
Ferrari with 'no upgrades'
The final question Hamilton had to answer was about the upgrades on his car, however, he then told the reporter they don't have any for this weekend.
"Zero upgrades. We need one," the seven-time world champion laughed.
