Although Charles Leclerc himself has once again reaffirmed his love for Ferrari, Sky F1 pundit Martin Brundle believes a split could genuinely happen if the Maranello-based team continues to fall short on performance.
On the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix, a true media bombshell sent shockwaves through Ferrari, with Frederic Vasseur reportedly under heavy pressure and rumored to be on his way out at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc is said to be considering a possible departure, disheartened by the team’s poor start to the campaign and the underperforming SF-25.
Addressing the rumors ahead of Canadian GP on Thursday, the Monegasque driver said: "I am very surprised. I mean, I have no idea where it comes from. So I'd rather just ignore it. But I have not said anything about this in the recent races."
"I keep saying how much I love the team and how much I want to bring Ferrari back to the top. So yes, I was just surprised."
The Monegasque also added: ''I’ll rather just ignore it. But I’ve never said anything of this in the last few races. If anything, I keep saying how much I love the team and how much I want to bring back Ferrari to the top''.

What will Leclerc do?

However, according to Martin Brundle, a split between Leclerc and Ferrari could indeed happen if results don’t improve soon: “Whispers. Whispers is the keyword there'', he replied when talking to Craig Slater.
“So, let’s walk a mile in Charles’ fireproof boots. If he can’t get a championship and regular wins at Ferrari, sooner or later he’s going to have to move on and look at a McLaren or a Red Bull, whoever’s getting the job done''.
“2026 is massive reset, isn’t it? So, you know, I think it’s only natural that… Charles has committed his career to Ferrari. He can’t do that forever if it’s not working.”
Will Leclerc choose to stay and continue his leap of faith with Ferrari, or will he seek better fortunes elsewhere?
